"No offense, but you're also kinda slow." Retiaria replied with an apologetic smile. "Especially after putting on those pounds. We need someone who can run for this. It'd be a shit lure if Gwen caught you before you got to the trap. You can hold my gear though, if you want? I'll need it as soon as possible once I get to the ambush."
Glancing over to Naethra, she said "As for a signal... how about 'Aargh, get 'em?'"

"Ohhh. I like the fire idea. Sorry Red. Duran is in." Gwyn said with a smile with the thought of goblins running around on fire.

"Wha!? I'm not that slow and I'm the most prepared right now for a fight if this goes south. Besides Gwyn can slow down a bit if I was sluggish.." The dragonborn explained, really wanting to help only to hear Gwyn decide dragonbutt is wher noice now. "Whew... thanks Gwyn. I'll do my best."

"What?  No!"  Naethra stares at Duran, and then Gwyn.  "That... is a terrible idea!  Duran is literally the worst person here to take with you!  You'd be better off getting Gavin or a scarecrow to come along!"

She cradled her forhead as she tried to articulate her objections.  "Duran is slow.  She's the largest person here and not at all comfortable with that mass.  She half waffles when she walks.  She's also proven herself lacking in willpower time and time again.  She's bad at moving fast and bad under mind affecting spells and those are the two things we need to secure this trap."

She looked at Duran again.  "The fire is much better for springing the actual trap.  Meet them with a wall of flame the instant they turn the corner and the fight is half won.  THAT'S where you can make the best impact."

"Yeah, plant girl gets it." Retiaria said, nodding. "That's exactly what I was trying to say. Hang back Duran, and slam into them when they're not expecting it."

I listen carefully to everyone speaking, then look at my little goblin "Couldn't I use a pill to disguise myself as one of the goblins we fought? We can have this little cutie-" I lift the goblin pet "double check me, because I'll be impersonating her. She was a cleric, so I can wear mostly appropriate gear. In addition I have a sort of... connection with her. I think I can impersonate her pretty well. If I run over and say that I found you, I can lead them into the trap while also giving them suggestions and guidance. If things go south I can invoke a deal with one of the goblins, which will protect me from all but one of them."

Duran's hands felt shaky and she so wanted to clench them into a fist but tried her damnest to keep her emotions in check as she looked upon Naethra and her words. How she clearly really felt about the paladin. Many of which seems cruel things to say. Half no longer as true now that she got her armor replaced but stung all the same. She clears her throat of both the sparks of flames and to be able to speak clearly. "Those are... a lot of harsh things to say... Coming from a mouse."

The dragonborn said no more on the subject and simply just walked to the other side of the brewery they hid in. Finding somewhere to just simply sit, preferably a chair to stare into a wall. She started to mumble things, one would assume be curses and foul words but if one could hear upon it. It would instead be prayers as the paladin tried her best to keep calm.

"Oric, wouldn't the pill actually make you a goblin. You wouldn't be on our side anymore. And we should ease up on those. I can do this with out burning resources." Gwyn explains. "So Red is my dance partner on this?"

"Yeah, good point on that. Well, I already said why I think it should be me, so... yeah..."
Retiaria held out her trident and shield for someone to take.

I shake my head "It would make me a goblin, but that doesn't change my allegiance. You don't have to burn resources to do it, but you're also much more vulnerable to being found out. I just feel like if our plan goes smoothly we're much safer, and given the magic items the goblins have, there's a real risk of you being seen through. I can attack from a far, but I'm much more effective up close. If one of us is attacked, Duran and I are the most sturdy, and as such most able to hang on until the rest of the group can respond. I can also heal myself if things get bad." I let out a sigh "But if everyone's against it I suppose I'll stand back. Just remember that my ability to heal you from a distance is reduced."

Mouse?  Where did that come from?

Naethra spared Duran a quizzical look as she pouted off.  In retrospect, she was glad she hadn't mentioned her other concerns about Duran's efficacy, ability to effectively rally, and propensity to wonder off.

She couldn't help but wince when Oric offered to use one of those pills.  "To be honest, Oric, those things unnerve the living hells out of me.  They have quite a kick and really screw with the mind.  This is dangerous enough as is... I'd really rather we didn't introduce another variable into it.  And remember, the scouting group shouldn't fight at all until we're all back together.  Just see what's there, and if we aren't hopelessly outnumbered, then lure some back so we can fight them together."

She bit her lip, or tried to.  Lacking teeth made it difficult.  That still felt so weird.  "Really, the big concern here is what happens if they did call in reinforcements and we're hopelessly outnumbered, like when the gnoll strolled through town.  If that happens, we'll need to run.  It's important that our scouts see the goblins before the goblins see them.  We'll... we'll need two alarms, one for if the scouts get caught and need us to rush to their aid, and one if the scouts get caught and know that trying to fight is pointless.  Maybe scream "no" if we need to cut our losses, run, and try to regroup outside of town.  Or maybe... we just do that anyway if we haven't heard anything in half an hour... no, no, definitely scream "no" if things go to shit."

Naethra changed her mind when she realized the scouts could be subdued and interrogated, pointing out exactly where the rest of the party was waiting.  This approach seemed like the best way to mitigate that risk.

"Yeah, when I took mine, I... I stopped thinking of myself as Retiaria for a while, I was just a pair of panties. It's too easy to forget who you are. And if you do, if you're disguising yourself as a goblin? Why wouldn't you join the other goblins?"
There was also the fact that Retiaria was concerned about how readily Oric was to take the pills, but that was better left unsaid.

"Scouting? I thought we were talking about luring them into a trap? The villagers can do the scouting bit, it doesn't even matter if they get seen. Then they just tell us where the gobbers are and we send out our lure."

"Oh!  There's an idea.  Where did Gavin get to?  This will be so much safer if we know, ahead of time, whether or not we're hopelessly outnumbered."

I sigh and sit down in the corner near Duran, mumbling about how clerics never get to go and do the fun risky stuff.

Gwyn pulls out a dagger and motions to Red and to the exit. "Gavin might have her hands busy. They are after us, and we should clear them out before anything bad happens to these people."

Gwyn looks to the others. "So take up post outside and ready to blast and pummel with cool paladin, cleric, wizard, and sexy plant  powers. If we don't lure them back here in 60 then come get us?"
