Mid-Ohio : Con Sketches!
I like to get sketches at that shows I hit up. And though I’d share some of the ones I picked up at the Mid-Ohio show. Now, if you don’t have the space to show them all here, but I really did love all the ones my neighbors were kind enough to make for me. Also some just didn’t scan in very well, cause the person under them went really dark.
At the show I gave all of the artists a list of possible themes to draw, so they could be creative and have some fun. I’ll let you know what the themes they chose when we get there.
I’ll start off with Andy Price. The man has been at the cons doing sketches for as long as I can remember. I get a kick out of the style and he does some fun stuff. He also used to draw the Quantum Leap comic book. I’ve been tempted to ask for a Sam Becket sketch. Anyways, Andy’s choice for the Mid-Ohio show was “A Comic Book Character set in an other Time Period” for which he drew 1950′s Batgirl. Also at the Chicago show Andy drew a Girl Gambit.

Next we have Comfort Love. Her and her artist husband do a self publish comic series called The Uniquies. Comfort took the option of “Awkward Teenage Verson of Any Character” and gave us a super emo Raven. Also I’m including her Girl Gambit from Chicago (was the popular theme there).

Now we have a sketch from Adam Withers. He works on the Uniquies comic with his wife, Comfort. He also took the “Awkward Teenage Verson of Any Character” and gave us Power Girl.

There were a bunch of the comic pros at the show. Alan Davis, Joe Kubert, etc. But the one I wanted to see and was excited to get a sketch from was Chris Giarrusso. Chris draws Mini-Marvels and did short Bullpin comic strips in the back of the Marvel comics. Chris seemed stumped for a long time sitting there staring at the blank page, but ultimately took the “gender swapped X-Men” option and gave us a Girl Cyclops.

All for now. If I get a chance I’ll see if I can share more later on.
