Everything Old is New Again

While editing the images from the bobby soxer shoot, I noticed something I found interesting.

We started off shooting some images of the model in her own clothes, so she could have some normal images. Then we dressed her up in the40′s-50′s style bobby soxer and I remember Tina, who does a fantastic job with the costumes going to get a 1950′s belt. Check out the belt worn by the modern girl (left) compared to the bobby soxer (right).

It’s the same belt, but different colors. Amusing how the same fashions keep coming back.

Bobby Soxer

On a random whim I was shooting 1950′s style images. We got one of the local models, dressed up as a 50′s bobby soxer. I think it suited her well. We were going to shoot downtown Joliet, but I got a little distracted as I passed the cemetery on the way. There was just a nice somber feeling in the air that I thought that lost love idea might be interesting to try.

Continuing my journey downtown to the train station I was planning on shooting I was distracted yet again. Downstairs in the train station is a bar; the name of which eludes me at the moment. I briefly asked if it was alright to shoot in the bar, having a pretty girl there to shoot easily made that answer a ‘yes’. The bar was very modern, but with out the skirt visible, and most of the bar blurred in the background I think it works well.

Finally we reached our destination of the art deco curves of the Joliet Union Station built in 1912. We had took some images of her with the sweater, but then we toughened her up by adding in the leather jacket.
