Creative Suite Pillows
Ok, I’m kinda stalling again today. I’m trying to keep putting up a post every day (ok, every weekday) and with the way I work it’s just not really feasible. So while I’m waiting for projects to happen/finish I’ll probably be posting some more random items. that is until I break down and start shooting random things for a photo-a-day feature.
Today I wanted to share something I thought was pretty cool. It’s pillows based of the designs of the Adobe Creative Suite product designs like Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Illustrator.
As someone who uses this programs on a regular basis I think they are pretty cool looking. I’m debating if I need new pillows for my place.
They are available at MySuiteStuff
Robotic Paintings
I have an affinity for some of the retro stylings, and included in that are robots and spacemen. Today I wanted to feature the paintings of Brian Kappel who incorporated fantastic robot designs in with the style of common signage and retro pop art. You can visit his blog to see some more of his work.
Elysium Underground Launched
My friends have started a new venture that you should check out. It’s called Elysium Underground.
It is an Online novella series, which will be posted monthly on the 15th. Where you can follow the adventures of Ted, as he finds himself in the mythic land of Faeries…and learns it’s just like here! Sex, Magic and Rock ‘n Roll! Elysium Underground is an Urban Fantasy just left of center.
Visit the site, read the first episode: Welcome to Wonderland, look at the character bios, the funky maps, the gallery, read our blogs and generally enjoy yourselves! They have a lot planned for the series, and I suggest you jump on now at the ground floor.
Comic Covers – Resurrection Man
It’s been a while since I’ve talked about or posted about comics. I know I’ve posted from great artwork from some artists and drew my own, but the actual comics have gone by the way side.
I wanted to take a moment and give some attention to a couple of my favorite comic books covers. They are from a comic series called Resurrection Man. I picked up a couple issues at the end of the run, and I can’t say I was impressed with it, but I love a couple of the early covers of the comic. I know very few people have heard of it and I wanted to share them before they vanished entirely from the public consciousness.
The covers were drawn/inked by Jackson Guice. I like the element of the soda company in the art, were as it seems they have their own corporate superhero. I’m not sure what happens inside the comics, but I enjoyed the cover art.
Chicago Comic-Con Sketches – Part 3
http://lazeedog.deviantart.com/
Every year I hit the Chicago Comic-Con (formerly Wizard World Chicago) and one of the things I love to do there is get sketches from the people in artist alley. We like to give thema bit of a challenge and make a list of random concepts for them to draw. So I thought I would share some of the wonderful work I got from the talented people this year.

Aliens vs Predator Ads
So Wednesday is looking like the day I’m going to post about movies and random stuff, cause I have some Middleman stuff I want to post next week. I saw these out on the web last week and I had to share these on my own because I think they are such brilliant ads and very well done. Also it helps that some thing like this is definitely right up my alley. I’ve been a fan of the Predator movies for a long time, and seeing something silly like this is fantastic.

The Middleman is Coming to DVD!
Things have been kinda on the crazy side here lately. I’m directing a play, and do a bit of freelance, so it hasn’t been leaving me much time to shoot. So there will be a lack of posts until the show is over. But I’ll still be making some updates on the play and I do I have new shoot completed that I’ll be posting soon.
But first the Middleman….

It was announced on the Middleblog that the Season 1 DVD will be coming out this summer. So save your pennies for Middleman goodness.
No word yet on if there will be a Season 2, but lets be optimistic since this is a Season 1 DVD and not a “Entire/Complete Series” DVD
10 Best DA Art for 2008
Every year I like to look back at all the artwork that other people have made on DeviantArt and choose my personal 10 favorite pieces to help get some more attention for these talented artists. This year I decided to post it here on the blog. Also It helps me stall until I get new artwork to share. Hope you enjoy.
Marcelo Di Chiara drew this great rendition of Bizarro from the Superman comics. It has some great lines through out it, as well as some nice damaged textures in the background. Also Bizzaro attempting the classic Superman glasses disguise is just amusing.

I featured this artwork from Jose Johann Jaro (aka lazeedog) earlier in the year for Halloween and I still really love it. The expressions on the kids faces are priceless. The details in this work really stand out to me, like the Star Wars Pillowcase, and the poor knock off quality of the Wonder Woman costume.

5. Something Wicked This Way Comes
As a photographer I don’t tend to look at that much photography as much as I look at comic books, drawings and paiLea Biljman here. It has a great mood, great colors and light, and has something beautifully retro and classic about it as well.

Pirates vs. Ninjas has been one of those ongoing internet debates/memes. I’m endlessly amused on how detailed an illustration Roboworks makes of the whole things. It takes a lot of time to makes those details so be sure to click to look at it in full size.

There is seemingly nothing extraordinary about Dan Panosian’s Superman. But it’s crisp lines, bold colors, and pure elegance in it’s simplicity (thank you Middleman for that line!) that really make this image stand out and a great work of pop art.

I love the mix of the very unique hand drawn creatures interacting with real word objects in this photo by Lora (whom’s last name I can’t seem to locate. ) I had it up as my wall paper for a long time. It kinda creeped out some people who saw it.

1. Wolverine vs. T-Rex Parts 1 & 2
Ok, so the number 1 piece is actually two paintings, but they come together well as one work. Andrew Hou admits to painting the first one on a whim not really having any idea how Wolveirne could win. A while later the second image appeared on his site. I’m very amused by both and the quality is suprub. I’d personally love to be able to get a print to hang on the wall.

Halloween Make Up – Round 2
Last time I showed some make up that I did over Halloween. Now to show off some great make up that Ellwyn and Tina did as well.
First off is a fairy make up that the client saw at the local Ren Faire. Ellwyn and Tina tag-teamed this and worked very hard and passionately on it. And she came out looking great. The stencil and airbrush on this really came out well.

Next is something Ellwyn really excels at. Years back around the time Titanic came out Ellwyn looked into making a frozen corpse make up with icicles and what researched what parts of the bodies decayed first and came up with a great look that a lot of people like. This client asked to look like the original image Ellwyn had did, and once again she did a great job.

One the employee’s of the store was going out that night and asked to be painted for her medusa costume. I believe Ellwyn and Tina did a tag team effort again with the airbrush.

Happy Halloween
Happy Halloween. I’m off turning people into monsters at the costume shop. I really didn’t do a halloween themed shoot. I don’t really see how it would be different from the dark themed stuff I’ve had as late, either.
So for a change of pace I’m going to show some artwork I really loved by Lazeedog on Deviant Art.
Have a nice evening everyone!

Mid-Ohio : Con Sketches!
I like to get sketches at that shows I hit up. And though I’d share some of the ones I picked up at the Mid-Ohio show. Now, if you don’t have the space to show them all here, but I really did love all the ones my neighbors were kind enough to make for me. Also some just didn’t scan in very well, cause the person under them went really dark.
At the show I gave all of the artists a list of possible themes to draw, so they could be creative and have some fun. I’ll let you know what the themes they chose when we get there.
I’ll start off with Andy Price. The man has been at the cons doing sketches for as long as I can remember. I get a kick out of the style and he does some fun stuff. He also used to draw the Quantum Leap comic book. I’ve been tempted to ask for a Sam Becket sketch. Anyways, Andy’s choice for the Mid-Ohio show was “A Comic Book Character set in an other Time Period” for which he drew 1950′s Batgirl. Also at the Chicago show Andy drew a Girl Gambit.

Next we have Comfort Love. Her and her artist husband do a self publish comic series called The Uniquies. Comfort took the option of “Awkward Teenage Verson of Any Character” and gave us a super emo Raven. Also I’m including her Girl Gambit from Chicago (was the popular theme there).

Now we have a sketch from Adam Withers. He works on the Uniquies comic with his wife, Comfort. He also took the “Awkward Teenage Verson of Any Character” and gave us Power Girl.

There were a bunch of the comic pros at the show. Alan Davis, Joe Kubert, etc. But the one I wanted to see and was excited to get a sketch from was Chris Giarrusso. Chris draws Mini-Marvels and did short Bullpin comic strips in the back of the Marvel comics. Chris seemed stumped for a long time sitting there staring at the blank page, but ultimately took the “gender swapped X-Men” option and gave us a Girl Cyclops.

All for now. If I get a chance I’ll see if I can share more later on.
Works of Others : Indiana Jones
The brand new Indiana Jones movie opened up today and I thought I’d share some nifty Jonesian artwork I spotted out on the interwebs.
The first one is by Ethan Beavers. It was drawn for a cover of a Indiana Jones magazine.

The other image I wanted to share is by an artist from Spain named Jamie Posadas.

Work of Others : Cédric Delsaux
Been kicking around doing this feature for a while. Every so often I see a photo shoot online I think is rather well done, and well I want to share at person’s success with others.
The first feature is for a French photographer,Cédric Delsaux. Delsaux has done a series of Star Wars themed shots with the movie characters in actual locations. Some of these shots go to show the difference in shooting in an actual location verses the green screen. I personally think actual location always wins.

Anyways, I think these images really stand out and Delsaux has done an excellent job capturing something in these images the later movies were sorely lacking.
